Owatrol Lianfloor

Flexible acrylic filler for wood flooring

Lianfloor is a highly flexible filler for joints, cracks & holes.

Properties

  • Odourless – Quick drying.
  • Easy to use – Easy to sand.
  • Non-yellowing – Maintains woods natural colour.
  • Long lasting flexibility – Will not crack.
  • Neutral PH – Unaffected by tannin bleed.
  • Mix with sawdust from sanding (grit No’s 80 to 100).
  • Prevents bonding of joints by the finish – Allows the floor to flex and move.
  • Compatible with all Owatrol flooring products: Primafloor, Oleofloor Classic, Oleofloor Natural, Vegafloor and Ultimafloor and all other stains and varnishes compatible with acrylic fillers.
  • All soft and hardwoods including exotic hardwoods.

Surface Preparation

General Directions

  • Surfaces must be dry, clean, free of dirt, grease and other surface contamination including previous coatings.
  • Lianfloor can only be applied to bare wood surfaces. All other finishes MUST be completely and thoroughly removed.
  • Always clean meticulously with a vacuum cleaner after each sanding, including any dust traps (skirting, radiators, pipes, window sills, etc).
  • Sand wooden floor using an appropriate system and abrasive grades up to grit No 80 or 100 depending on the condition of surface and wood species. Use an edge sander for edges, a mechanical hand sander, chisel or scraper for corners.
  • Finish with finishing grade up to grit No. 120 or 150 depending on the wood species and thickness of wear layer.
  • If required treat new or old bare wood with DSP 800 to protect against fungal attack and blue stain prior to applying Lianfloor.

New Wood Surfaces

  • Degrease surface with denatured alcohol, acetone or similar solvent based product.
  • Prepare and sand surface as instructed in “General Directions” above.

Previously treated surfaces (oiled or polished)

  • Previously oiled or polished surfaces should be dry stripped with DSP 800.
  • After stripping degrease surface with with denatured alcohol, acetone, white (mineral) spirit or similar solvent based product.
  • Prepare and sand surface as instructed in “General Directions” above.

Previously coated surfaces (varnish, paint, stain)

  • Remove existing finish by sanding or stripping with DSP 800.
  • After stripping degrease surface with with denatured alcohol, acetone, white (mineral) spirit or similar solvent based product.
  • Prepare and sand surface as instructed in “General Directions” above.

Application

  • Apply mixture with spatula or filling knife working well in to joints, cracks etc.
  • Allow to dry.
  • If filler has shrunk or sunk (concave) repeat the process to build up the filler to the level of the floor. Do not sand between applications.
  • When dry continue sanding process from the last grit used (No 80 or 100).
  • Meticulously vacuum all surfaces after each sanding.
  • Apply desired Owatrol floor finish.

Coverage: Coverage will vary depending on the condition of the surface, the space to be filled and the number of applications.
Application tools:  Spatula or filling knife.
Application temperature: Between 10°C and 25°C.
Drying: 2 hours.
Clean-up: Water.
