Restores faded plastics, gel coats, and tarnished metal surfaces
Owatrol Polytrol is a permeating oil that restores the original look and finish to dull plastics, gel coats, tarnished metal and many other substrates.
Properties

Where to use
- Works on fibreglass (GRP), plastic, paint, tiles etc
- Metals – chrome, brass, bronze, stainless steel, aluminium etc
- Car bumpers, boats, garden furniture, shutters etc
- Horizontal or Vertical surfaces.
Surface Preparation
General directions
- Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of dirt, grease, grime and mildew.
- All waxes, polishes, silicone etc should be completely and thoroughly removed.
- Treat mildew with a 50/50 bleach/water solution. Scrub solution on to the surface and allow to stand 10-15 minutes, rinse thoroughly.
Plastic, gel coat, tiles, painted surfaces etc
- Clean the surface with warm soapy water or Net-Trol.
- Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry a minimum of 24 hours depending on the surface.
Stone, brick, etc
- Clean surface with Net-Trol.
- Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry a minimum of 24 hours depending on the surface.
Metal
- Clean surface with Pura-Trol and rinse thoroughly.
- Leave to dry a minimum of 24 hours.
Application
General directions
- Always work in areas that can be completed 10-20 min.
- If surface absorbs Polytrol unevenly i.e. matt and shiny patches move surplus oil from shiny areas to matt areas.
- Wipe off excess Polytrol with a clean lint free cloth before it becomes tacky.
- For a shinier finish, buff surface with a lint-free polishing cloth.
Plastic, gelcoat, tiles, painted surfaces etc
- Apply Polytrol liberally and evenly with a brush or cloth.
- Allow to work 10-20 min.
- Wipe off excess Polytrol with a clean lint-free cloth.
- Leave to dry.
Stone, brick, etc
- Apply Polytrol liberally and evenly with a brush or cloth.
- Allow to work 10-20 min.
- Brush out or wipe off excess Polytrol with a clean lint-free cloth.
- Leave to dry.
Metal
- Soak abrasive pad or wire wool in Polytrol and apply to surface with a rubbing action.
- Allow to work 10-20 minutes.
- Wipe the surface with a cloth to remove all residue.
- Buff surface with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- Leave to dry.
Note:
Polytrol is not a surface coating. Its place is in the surface, not on the surface. Excess Polytrol that dries on the surface may be removed with Dilunett.
Information
Coverage: 18 m² per litre
Application tools: Brush. Cloth. Abrasive Pad. Wire wool (000 or 0000 grade).
Application temperature: Between 5°C and 35°C.
Drying: 24 hours.
Clean-up: White spirit. Note: Polytrol is non-flammable, however, any rags, steel wool etc soaked in Polytrol may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Rags, steel wool etc must be saturated with water after use or placed in a sealed, water filled metal container, before disposing of with household waste. Rags may be laid flat and air dried before discarding.
