A rainscreen cladding system consists of an outer panel layer fixed away from the wall structure with a ventilated air gap behind it, allowing any water that penetrates behind the panels to drain and evaporate. The ventilation gap also equalises pressure, preventing water being driven in by wind pressure. Rainscreen systems are among the most durable and thermally effective forms of external wall cladding.
